Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a history of autoimmune pancreatitis, pancreatitis caused by injury, or a severe episode of acute necrotizing (tissue-destroying) pancreatitis that led to suspected complications (confirm with trial site).
- People who have a primary pancreatic cancer or tumor, including certain cyst-forming tumors larger than 1 cm or involving the main pancreatic duct, hormone-producing tumors, or other rare pancreatic tumors.
- People who have cancer that has spread to the pancreas from another part of the body.
- People who have had a solid organ transplant (such as a kidney, liver, or heart transplant), or who have HIV/AIDS.
- People whose pancreas does not produce enough digestive enzymes, where this condition exists on its own without meeting any of the other criteria for joining the trial.
- People with a medical or psychiatric illness, or ongoing substance use, that the trial investigator believes would make it difficult to complete the study or attend follow-up visits.
- People with significantly reduced kidney function (a GFR below 30) or kidney failure — this applies to certain subgroups within the trial (confirm with trial site which subgroup applies).
- People who are not willing to attend follow-up visits over time.
- People who are currently pregnant. People who could become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test within 2 days before any research-related endoscopy or imaging procedure, unless surgical sterilisation has been confirmed or there has been no menstrual period for 2 or more years.
- People who are currently in prison or a correctional facility.
- People in certain subgroups of the trial who are unable to have an MRI scan — for example, due to having a metal object in the body that makes MRI unsafe (confirm with trial site which subgroups this applies to).
