Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 21 and 75 years
- People who have had one stroke on one side of the brain (not the brainstem or cerebellum), either caused by a blocked blood vessel or bleeding in the brain
- People who have had only one stroke (no previous strokes before this one)
- People whose walking speed has been affected by stroke, specifically those who walk at a slower pace (0.80 metres per second or less)
- People who are able to stand and walk more than 10 metres on their own, without someone physically supporting them
Who may not be able to join:
- People with serious heart, lung, or metabolic health conditions
- People with another neurological condition or a bone/joint/muscle injury that also affects their ability to walk
- People who score below 24 on a standard memory and thinking test called the Mini Mental Status Examination
- People whose stroke affected the brainstem or cerebellum (the lower and back parts of the brain)
- People with uncontrolled high blood pressure (specifically, a reading above 200/110 mmHg)
- People who have had a Botox injection within the 6 months before the study would begin
