Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 50 or older who have been diagnosed with pseudoexfoliation syndrome (a condition where flaky material builds up in the eye) or a related type of glaucoma
  • People aged 21 or older who have been diagnosed with a specific type of glaucoma caused by a narrow or closed drainage angle in the eye (called primary angle closure or primary angle closure glaucoma)
  • People aged 30 or older who have been diagnosed with the most common type of glaucoma, called primary open angle glaucoma, and do not have certain other eye conditions
  • Healthy volunteers aged over 60 with no history of glaucoma, eye inflammation, or certain other eye diseases (for comparison purposes)
  • All participants must be able and willing to give their informed consent to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a type of glaucoma caused by abnormal blood vessel growth in the eye (neovascular glaucoma)
  • People who currently have, or have previously had, inflammation inside the eye (uveitis)
  • People whose eye drainage angle is blocked due to inflammation or abnormal blood vessel growth
  • People who are unable to give their informed consent to participate
