Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been confirmed through a tissue test (biopsy) to have a non-invasive breast condition called ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) in one breast — the presence of another non-invasive condition called LCIS or other non-cancerous breast conditions alongside DCIS is acceptable
- People for whom a specific test called DCISionRT has been ordered as part of their regular medical care
- People who are eligible for, or have recently had, breast-conserving surgery (surgery that removes the abnormal area while keeping most of the breast)
- People whose doctors consider them eligible to receive radiation therapy and/or other systemic treatments such as hormone therapy
- People aged between 30 and 85 years old
- People whose tumor measures less than 6 centimetres in size
- People who received their DCIS diagnosis within the last 120 days before giving consent to join the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose tissue sample is not large enough to produce DCISionRT test results, or where key information needed for the test (such as age, tumor size, margin status, or whether the lump could be felt) is missing
- People who show signs of invasive breast cancer, including very early spread into surrounding tissue, lymph node involvement, a nipple condition called Paget's disease, or concerning findings in lymph nodes or the opposite breast on a mammogram
- People who have already had the affected breast fully removed (mastectomy) as treatment for DCIS
- People who have previously had DCIS or invasive breast cancer in either breast
- People who have previously received radiation therapy to the same breast area
- People who have already received hormone therapy or chemotherapy before the DCISionRT test is done
- People who are currently pregnant
