Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 80 years who have been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis (a sudden inflammation of the pancreas)
- The diagnosis must be confirmed by at least 2 of the following: abdominal pain typical of this condition; blood test results showing pancreatic enzymes (amylase and/or lipase) at 3 or more times the normal upper limit; or a CT scan of the abdomen showing signs of this condition
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose symptoms started more than 24 hours before being assessed for the trial
- People with reduced kidney function, based on a specific blood test result being above a certain level
- People with serious liver problems
- People with an active stomach ulcer or bleeding in the digestive tract
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have had an allergic or adverse reaction to anti-inflammatory pain medicines known as NSAIDs
- People with newly developed, worsening, or uncontrolled high blood pressure
- People with serious heart or blood vessel conditions, including severe heart failure, a recent heart attack, or stroke
- People with a cognitive or intellectual disability
- People whose pancreatitis is linked to a cancer diagnosis
- People whose pancreatitis developed after a procedure called an ERCP (a procedure involving the digestive tract and bile ducts)
- People who have not signed an informed consent form
