Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 80 years old
- People whose stroke symptoms began within the past week
- People with a stroke severity score of 12 or less on a standard medical scale called the NIHSS
- People who have been confirmed to have had an ischemic stroke (caused by a blocked blood vessel, not bleeding) shown on a CT or MRI scan of the head
- People who had little to no disability before their stroke (a score of 1 or less on a standard disability scale)
- People whose carotid, vertebral, or internal carotid arteries on the affected side are less than 50% narrowed
- People in whom a special type of MRI scan (called HRMRI) has identified a significant fatty buildup (plaque) in a specific brain artery on the affected side

Who may not be able to join:
- People whose CT scan shows bleeding in the brain
- People whose stroke appears to have been caused by a heart-related source, such as an irregular heartbeat (atrial fibrillation), heart valve disease, or fatty buildup in the main artery from the heart
- People with serious liver or kidney problems
- People who are pregnant
- People with an abnormally high level of a muscle enzyme called creatine phosphokinase in their blood
- People who are planned to have a procedure to open a blocked artery using a stent
- People whose blood sugar levels are not well controlled
- People who have been taking cholesterol-lowering medications called statins within the month before their stroke
- People whose blood pressure remains above 140/90 mmHg even after taking blood pressure medication
- People who are not able or willing to attend scheduled visits, follow lifestyle guidelines, complete tests, or follow the study plan
- People assessed by the research team as otherwise unsuitable for this trial
