Who might be able to join this trial:
- People under 25 years of age
- People who have not previously had a stem cell transplant from a donor (this would be their first one)
- People diagnosed with certain blood cancers that carry a high risk of coming back, including acute myeloid leukemia (AML), acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL), myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), mixed or bi-phenotypic leukemia, lymphoblastic or Burkitt's lymphoma, or juvenile myelomonocytic leukemia (JMML)
- People whose blood cancer has either returned, shows signs of remaining after treatment, or has features that suggest a higher risk of returning
- People whose heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, and other organs meet the health standards set by the transplant team, and who meet the infection-related requirements (confirm with trial site)
- People who have a parent or guardian who can sign the consent form, or who are over 18 and can sign it themselves
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose disease, organ health, or infection status does not meet the transplant team's required standards
- People for whom no suitable donor is available to provide stem cells collected from the bloodstream
- People with certain inherited genetic conditions, including Fanconi anemia, Kostmann syndrome, dyskeratosis congenita, or other conditions affecting the body's ability to repair DNA
- People with Hodgkin lymphoma, or types of lymphoma that are not Burkitt's or lymphoblastic lymphoma
- People who are pregnant
Regarding the donor:
- A suitable unrelated donor must meet the criteria set by the National Marrow Donor Program
- The donor must have compatible tissue typing (HLA matching) with the patient
- The donor must be willing to receive a medication to stimulate stem cell production and undergo stem cell collection from the blood
