Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been given a primary diagnosis of schizophrenia according to standard diagnostic guidelines (DSM-5).
- People whose schizophrenia diagnosis has been confirmed by a trained clinician using a structured interview tool (called the K-SADS-PL) at the first study visit.
- People who score at or above a certain level on a standard schizophrenia symptom rating scale (called the PANSS), including showing at least moderate levels of two or more symptoms such as delusions, disorganised thinking, hallucinations, grandiosity, or suspiciousness — measured at both the first and second study visits.
- People who are rated as at least "moderately ill" on a standard illness severity scale (called the CGI-S) at both the first and second study visits.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who currently have a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, schizophreniform disorder, brief psychotic disorder, or psychosis caused by another medical condition.
- People who have a diagnosis of intellectual disability (generally defined as an IQ below 70).
- People who have met the criteria for a substance use disorder (excluding caffeine or tobacco) at any point in the three months before the first study visit.
