Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 or older
  • People experiencing symptoms that suggest a torn hip labrum (the ring of cartilage around the hip socket), such as catching, clicking, or popping sensations in the hip, pain when sitting, or pain when moving the hip in certain ways
  • People whose symptoms are not caused by another separate hip or back condition, such as a hip infection, bone fractures around the hip, or certain other conditions affecting the hip, lower back, or nearby areas
  • People who have hip X-rays and MRI scans (or a similar scan called an MRA) available to be reviewed
  • People whose MRI or MRA scan shows evidence of a torn hip labrum
  • People who are willing to take part and are able to read, understand, and sign a consent form
  • People who were previously enrolled in a related study (protocol 2017P001391/PHS)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who do not speak English, as the study questionnaires have only been validated in English
  • People who currently have an infection affecting the whole body
  • People who are currently on full-body blood-thinning (anticoagulation) treatment
  • People who are pregnant
