Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been recently diagnosed with Crohn's disease, or your Crohn's disease has recently flared up, and you are being seen at one of the participating clinics
- Your Crohn's disease has been confirmed following established medical guidelines, including a full camera examination of your bowel and an MRI or CT scan of your small intestine at the time of diagnosis
- You have never been treated with biologic medications (a type of advanced medication for Crohn's disease)
- You can read and understand the Dutch language well enough to participate
- You are between 18 and 70 years old
- You own a smartphone with internet access
- You are already using the myIBDcoach app, or you are willing to start using it
Who may not be able to join:
- You have used the steroid medication prednisone for more than 4 weeks during the past year
- You have taken budesonide (a steroid medication) at a dose of 6 mg or more per day for longer than 3 months during the past year
- You have used thiopurine medications (another type of treatment for Crohn's disease) at any point in the last 3 years
- Your doctors feel you need to start treatment straight away with biologic medications or surgery
- You have had cancer in the last 5 years (though a certain type of treated skin cancer may be an exception — confirm with trial site)
- You have a medical reason why you cannot take TNF-blocker medications or immune-suppressing treatments (confirm with trial site)
- You have a medical reason why you cannot have an MRI or CT scan (confirm with trial site)
- You have had a large portion of your bowel removed (short bowel syndrome) or you have a stoma bag
