Who might be able to join this trial:
- The baby must be born to a healthy mother who had a straightforward, uncomplicated pregnancy and delivered at full term (on time)
- The mother can be of any ethnic or social background, but must be able to speak, read, and understand Swedish well enough to give consent

Who may not be able to join:
- Mothers who had pregnancy complications, including pre-eclampsia (a serious blood pressure condition during pregnancy)
- Mothers who are younger than 18 or older than 40 years of age
- Mothers who have genital herpes, genital warts, HIV, or Hepatitis B
- Mothers who had complications during labour and delivery
- Babies born before 37 weeks of pregnancy (premature babies)
- For mothers in the C-section groups specifically: mothers who carry certain bacteria including Group B Streptococcus, Group A Streptococcus, or have a vaginal infection called bacterial vaginosis
- For mothers in the C-section groups: mothers whose vaginal acidity level is above 4 at the time of birth
- Mothers whose stool (poo) samples test positive for certain harmful bacteria, including Salmonella, Shigella, Campylobacter, or Yersinia
