Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are between 18 and 75 years old
• You have been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (a specific type of cancer) in the middle or lower part of the esophagus (food pipe), confirmed by scans, tissue sample, or fluid sample, and the cancer has not spread to distant parts of the body
• Scans show the tumor may be removable by surgery, with no signs of it growing into surrounding chest structures or into the airways
• You have never had any previous treatment for esophageal cancer, including radiation, chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy
• You are generally able to carry out daily activities with little to no limitation (confirm with trial site)
• You are expected to live for more than 6 months
• Your organ function tests show no reasons that would prevent surgery

• If you are a woman who could become pregnant, you agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 6 months after it ends, have a negative pregnancy test within 7 days before joining, and are not breastfeeding; if you are a man, you also agree to use effective birth control during the study and for 6 months after it ends
• You do not have any other serious uncontrolled illness, such as an active infection in the kidneys, lungs, or liver
• You have not been part of another clinical trial in the 4 weeks before starting treatment

Who may not be able to join:

• Your esophageal cancer has been confirmed as adenocarcinoma (a different type of esophageal cancer)
• Your cancer has spread to distant parts of the body and cannot be fully removed by surgery
• You have taken other medications (including traditional herbal medicines) before joining, or there are concerns you may not be able to follow the study requirements
• You have moderate or severe nerve damage or bleeding problems (confirm with trial site)
• You have serious heart or blood pressure problems, including uncontrolled high blood pressure, unstable chest pain, a heart attack in the past 6 months, significant heart failure, severe irregular heartbeat, or fluid around the heart
• You have a severe hormone condition affecting fluid balance, or diabetes that is very difficult to control despite high doses of insulin or with very high blood sugar levels (confirm with trial site)
• You have been taking blood-thinning medications such as warfarin or heparin long-term for more than 6 months (low-dose warfarin or aspirin taken for prevention purposes may be acceptable — confirm with trial site)
• You have had major surgery within the 4 weeks before joining, or your surgical wounds have not fully healed
• Previous stomach surgery means your stomach cannot be used to rebuild your digestive tract after esophageal surgery

• You are known to be allergic or highly sensitive to any of the drugs or ingredients used in this study
