Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been diagnosed with ALS (also known as Lou Gehrig's disease) in one of several forms, including possible, probable, or definite ALS, or forms that mainly affect movement control from the lower or upper nervous system, or that affect swallowing and speech (bulbar)
- People with or without thinking or memory difficulties alongside their diagnosis
- People who are willing to take part in the trial
- People who are not currently taking any other experimental treatments
- People aged between 18 and 85 years old
- People who have never previously taken the medication Edaravone (also called Radicava)
- People who have either been on a stable dose of Riluzole for at least 30 days, or who are not taking Riluzole at all
- Both men and women are eligible
- Women who could become pregnant must be using contraception
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have an unstable or poorly controlled medical condition
- People whose liver function test results are more than twice the upper limit of the normal range (confirm with trial site)
- People who are unlikely to survive for at least 26 weeks
