Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 45 and 80 years old
- You are an outpatient (not currently staying in hospital) attending the new patient clinic at the Cross Cancer Institute with a diagnosis of colorectal cancer or breast cancer at stage II or III
- You are able to complete your first study visits within about 4 weeks of starting chemotherapy, or at least 4 weeks after surgery if you are not having chemotherapy
- You are able to walk and move around independently

- Women who have not yet gone through menopause
- Anyone who has received hormone treatment or immunotherapy for cancer in the 4 weeks before their first study visit
- Anyone with reduced kidney function, based on a specific blood test result (confirm with trial site)
- Anyone with abnormal blood sugar levels, based on fasting blood glucose or HbA1c test results (confirm with trial site)
- Anyone with other health conditions or taking medications that could interfere with following the study, such as diabetes, severe obesity, hormone therapy, or another active cancer diagnosis
- Anyone unable or unwilling to provide urine, breath, and blood samples — for example, due to being on an oxygen tank or having a urinary catheter
- Anyone who cannot eat the meals provided as part of the study, including those receiving nutrition through a tube or drip, or those with severe food allergies
- Anyone who is dependent on substances such as alcohol, cigarettes, or illicit drugs and would be unable to follow the study rules
