Who might be able to join this trial:
If you are a healthy volunteer (Control):
- You are 50 years of age or older.
- You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to have your walking movement recorded and analyzed.
If you have already had knee replacement surgery (Retrospective):
- You previously had a total knee replacement using either a Stryker Triathlon or Biomet Vanguard knee implant system.
- You were at least 50 years old at the time of your knee replacement surgery.
- You previously signed a consent form for walking movement data collection under an approved research board.
- Your surgery followed the standard guidelines for the knee implant used.
If you are planning to have knee replacement surgery (Prospective):
- You have been identified as a suitable candidate for the DJO Global Empowr total knee replacement.
- You are at least 50 years old at the time of your knee replacement surgery.
- You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to have your walking movement recorded and analyzed.
- Your surgery will follow the standard guidelines for the knee implant used.
Who may not be able to join:
Healthy volunteers (Controls):
- You have any injury or condition affecting your muscles, bones, or joints.
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- Your Body Mass Index (BMI) is over 40 (confirm with trial site).
Those who have had or are planning knee replacement surgery (Retrospective & Prospective):
- You have inflammatory arthritis or psoriatic arthritis.
- You are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
- Your BMI is over 40 (confirm with trial site).
- You had an active or suspected hidden infection in or around the knee joint at the time of surgery.
- The bone around your knee joint was too weak or damaged to properly support a knee implant.
- You have a mental health or nerve/muscle condition that could increase the risk of the implant failing or cause complications during recovery (confirm with trial site).
- You have severe knee instability due to damaged or missing ligaments on the sides of your knee.
