Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 75 years
- People who have been diagnosed with a type of oesophageal (food pipe) cancer called squamous cell carcinoma that cannot be removed by surgery, confirmed through a tissue or cell sample, and at a specific stage of spread as assessed by the trial team
- People whose cancer spread is limited only to nearby lymph nodes near the collarbone or abdomen (confirm with trial site)
- People who are receiving their primary cancer treatment at the Cancer Hospital, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences
- People who are generally active and able to care for themselves, with a good performance level as rated by a doctor
- People whose nutritional status is assessed as adequate using a standard screening tool (confirm with trial site)
- People whose estimated life expectancy is at least 3 months
- People whose blood, kidney, and liver test results fall within acceptable ranges as determined by the trial team
- People who have given their written agreement to take part in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose cancer has spread to distant parts of the body such as the liver, lungs, bones, or brain, or to lymph nodes outside the specific regions defined by the trial
- People who have had another type of cancer in the past 5 years, except for certain early-stage or non-aggressive skin cancers as specified by the trial team
- People who currently have an active infection, such as active tuberculosis or hepatitis
- People who have had a heart attack in the past 6 months, or who have a history of certain irregular heart rhythms
- People with serious uncontrolled health conditions, including active infection, heart failure, unstable chest pain, heart rhythm problems, or serious mental health conditions
- People who have had an allergic reaction to paclitaxel, albumin, or cisplatin (the medicines used in this trial)
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial, or who have done so within the 4 weeks before joining this trial
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
