Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 21 years of age or older at the time of joining
- People who have weakness on one side of the body affecting arm movement, caused by their first-ever stroke, that occurred at least 6 months before the screening visit
- People whose arm movement is rated as severely to moderately impaired based on a standard motor assessment (a score of 7 to 40 on a scale called the Fugl-Meyer Assessment for the Upper Extremity)
- People who still have at least some ability to voluntarily move their shoulder and elbow muscles
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to follow the instructions for a specific task used in this trial (called the MyoCI task)
- People with vision problems (such as loss of half the visual field) that would prevent them from fully seeing a screen
- People who have numbness, lack of sensation, or unawareness of their affected arm, or who have difficulty noticing things on one side of their visual field (confirm with trial site for exact scoring threshold)
- People who have taken part in another study involving their affected arm within the 6 weeks before joining, or any study involving medications
- People who are unable to understand or follow instructions given in English, due to a language or communication difficulty or any other reason
- People who have had strokes causing widespread damage across both sides of the brain
- People experiencing significant arm pain that would prevent them from participating in 90-minute daily sessions
- People who have received treatment for muscle stiffness — either medication or Botox injections — within the past 3 months
- People who have metal implants in their body that are not safe for MRI scans
