Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who have already been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate colitis
  • People who are currently receiving treatment with either Infliximab or Vedolizumab every 4 to 8 weeks
  • People between the ages of 5 and 25 years old at the time of joining the study
  • People whose recent blood test (taken in the last 4 to 8 weeks) showed a vitamin D level below 40 ng/mL, with no changes to their vitamin D supplements during that time

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with a history of any kidney disease
  • People with a history of pre-existing liver disease
  • People with a history of granulomatous disease (a type of inflammatory condition — confirm with trial site if unsure)
  • People who are unable to swallow an oral vitamin D3 pill
  • People with a history of abnormally high calcium levels in their blood or urine
  • People who are currently taking, or have taken within the past 3 months, an anti-epileptic (anti-seizure) medication or the water tablet Lasix (furosemide)
