Who might be able to join this trial:

• You are an adult (man or woman) who has been diagnosed with Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis and are starting treatment with ustekinumab or one of the comparison medications being studied.
• You have at least 1 year of recorded medical history in the Department of Defense electronic health records system before starting the study medication.

Who may not be able to join:

• You are under 18 years old at the time you start the study medication.
• You do not have a confirmed diagnosis of Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis before or at the time you start the study medication.
• You have ever been diagnosed with HIV, had an organ or tissue transplant, or been diagnosed with cancer (other than a common type of non-melanoma skin cancer) at any point before or when you start the study medication.
• You have been diagnosed by a doctor with rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (a type of spinal arthritis), or psoriatic arthritis within the 12 months before or at the time you start the study medication.
• For the part of the study looking at infections: you may not be able to join if you were diagnosed with a specific infection both shortly before and shortly after starting the study medication (within 60 days on either side) (confirm with trial site).
