Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are attending a memory clinic appointment due to memory concerns, or people who are accompanying someone to a memory clinic appointment for memory concerns
Who may not be able to join:
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- People who have a history of a known brain or nervous system condition that is not related to degeneration, such as a brain tumour, a stroke affecting a specific brain region, or multiple sclerosis
- People who have a history of a retinal (eye) condition
- People whose vision prescription (glasses or contacts) is stronger than 3 diopters for the main lens power, or stronger than 1.5 diopters for the astigmatism correction
- People who have taken a medication called ethambutol (used to treat tuberculosis) for more than 2 months
- People who have taken synthetic antimalarial medications for more than 2 years
- People whose score on a standard memory and thinking test (called the MMS or MoCA) falls below a certain level — below 10 for patients, or below 26 for accompanying persons (confirm with trial site for exact details)
- Patients who are unable to have an MRI scan, for example due to a pacemaker or metal implants (this applies to patients only, not accompanying persons)
