Who might be able to join this trial:
Group 1 (people with a specific eye condition involving abnormal blood vessel growth):
- People who have a type of abnormal blood vessel growth under the retina (called type 1 choroidal neovascularization) related to either a condition called central serous chorioretinopathy or age-related macular degeneration
- People who have either never had an injection into the eye, or whose last eye injection was more than 3 months ago
- People who have read and signed an informed consent form agreeing to take part
Group 2 (people without abnormal blood vessel growth under the retina):
- People who do not have abnormal blood vessel growth under the retina
- People who are having or have had eye surgery (either cataract surgery or a procedure called vitrectomy)
- People who have signed a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a heart attack within the last 12 months
- People who have chronic kidney (renal) failure
- People who have an inflammatory disease
- People who have an infectious disease, including HIV, viral hepatitis, or tuberculosis
- People who have type 1 or type 2 diabetes
- People who are currently taking a type of medication called mineralocorticoid antagonists (confirm with trial site for specific examples)
- People who have a type 2 or type 3 abnormal blood vessel growth under the retina
- People who are pregnant
