Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 20 and 75 years old.
- People who have had their first stroke (either caused by a blocked blood vessel or a bleed in the brain) on one side of the body, with the stroke happening more than 3 months ago.
- People with moderate to severe weakness or movement difficulty in the arm on the affected side, as measured by a specific motor assessment tool (the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, with a score between 18 and 56).
- People without severe muscle stiffness in the shoulder, elbow, wrist, or fingers of the affected arm (a score below 3 on a standard stiffness scale called the Modified Ashworth Scale).
- People who are able to follow and understand instructions, as confirmed by a standard mental ability test (Mini-Mental State Examination score above 24).
- People who have not had a broken bone in the affected arm in the past 3 months.
- People who are not currently taking part in any other medication or rehabilitation research study.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have another neurological, neuromuscular, or bone and joint condition, such as epilepsy, that could affect participation.
- People with serious health or physical conditions that the trial team determines could make participation difficult or unsafe (confirm with trial site).
