Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 55 and 80 years old
- Your doctors expect you to live for more than 10 years
- Your prostate cancer aggressiveness score (called a Gleason score) is below 8 if you are under 75, or below 9 if you are between 75 and 80
- Your cancer appears to be contained within or very close to the prostate and has not spread to lymph nodes or other parts of the body
- Your PSA level (a protein measured in your blood related to prostate cancer) is below 15
- If your PSA is above 15 and you are under 75, you may still be considered but with extra caution (confirm with trial site)
- Your cancer falls into an "intermediate risk" category, or if you are over 75, higher-risk cases may also be considered (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have already received treatment for prostate cancer inside the prostate
- You have received hormone therapy for prostate cancer within the last 6 months
- You have previously had radiation therapy to the pelvis area
- You currently have an active urinary tract infection
- If you are under 75, there is more than a 5% calculated chance that your cancer has spread to your lymph nodes (confirm with trial site)
- Your MRI scan score (called PI-RADS) is below 3, meaning significant cancer cannot be clearly confirmed
- Your scans show the cancer has grown outside the prostate or into nearby glands called seminal vesicles
- Your scans show the cancer has spread to lymph nodes or bones
- More than 2 tumours have been detected on your MRI scan and confirmed by biopsy
- You are unable to have an MRI scan for any reason
