Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be 50 years of age or older at the time of screening
- At screening, you either have no memory or thinking problems, or you have been diagnosed with a specific type of Alzheimer's disease (amnestic Alzheimer's disease, posterior cortical atrophy, or logopenic variant primary progressive aphasia)
- Your level of memory or thinking difficulty must fall within a specific range on a standard rating scale used by doctors (called the Clinical Dementia Rating scale)
- If you are not able to give your own consent to participate, you must have someone (such as a family member) who can make decisions on your behalf
- You must be able to read, write, and speak English or Spanish
- You must be available and able to attend all scheduled appointments and complete all required tests
- In the opinion of the lead researcher, you are likely to follow the study rules and complete the full study
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a history of any brain condition other than Alzheimer's disease, including evidence of a past stroke seen on a brain scan
- You have serious medical conditions that would make the study procedures unsafe, such as uncontrolled epilepsy or multiple serious injuries
- You are unable to have an MRI scan for medical reasons
- You are unable to physically enter an MRI scanner, for example due to severe obesity or a fear of enclosed spaces (claustrophobia)
- You have taken part in other research involving radiation in the past year, and combining that with this study would put you over the safe limit
- Certain medications may disqualify you, as decided by the lead researcher on a case-by-case basis (confirm with trial site)
