Who might be able to join this trial:

• Women who have not yet reached menopause
• People aged between 18 and 40 years old
• People who have irregular menstrual cycles that are longer than 35 days
• People who have been diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) based on a specific set of diagnostic guidelines called the Rotterdam criteria
• People who are willing to have a transvaginal ultrasound (an internal ultrasound scan of the reproductive organs)

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have used hormonal medications — including hormonal contraception — in the 3 months before joining, unless it was a progestogen taken to trigger a period every 3 months
• People with a history of certain medical conditions or medications that may affect how the body processes vitamin D or calcium, such as active or treated tuberculosis, sarcoidosis, kidney or bladder stones, parathyroid disease, kidney or liver failure, or current use of anti-seizure medications
• People currently taking insulin-sensitising medications, cholesterol-lowering medications, or blood pressure medications
• People expected to need any of those medications within the coming year
• People with a known diagnosis of type 2 diabetes
• People who do not wish to participate in the study
• People with an abnormal blood calcium level
• People currently taking their own vitamin D or other relevant supplements would be asked to stop taking them before joining (confirm with trial site)
