AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged 18 years or older
  • People with a confirmed diagnosis (proven through tissue testing) of a specific type of oesophageal or gastro-oesophageal junction cancer — including adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, undifferentiated carcinoma, or carcinoma of the gastro-oesophageal junction (Siewert type I or II)
  • People whose cancer is considered surgically removable, based on its stage (classified as T1–4a, N0–3, M0)
  • Women who could potentially become pregnant must have a negative pregnancy test before joining
  • People who are willing and able to provide written agreement to take part in the trial

Who may not be able to join:

  • People with stage IV oesophageal cancer, or a specific cancer location classified as gastro-oesophageal junction Siewert type III
  • People for whom a particular type of surgery (transthoracic oesophagectomy in two fields) is not considered medically safe or appropriate
  • People with another current or previous cancer, or other medical conditions, that could interfere with the trial — for example, people who have previously had chest (thoracic) surgery or a significant chest injury, as this may affect the type of surgical approach that can be used (confirm with trial site)

Important: Always verify eligibility with the trial site directly before applying.
