Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 18 and 80 years old who have been diagnosed with asthma according to the 2020 Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) guidelines.
- People whose asthma has been confirmed by medical testing showing that their airways respond to a reliever medication (with breathing capacity improving by a specific amount), or that their airways are unusually sensitive when tested under controlled conditions.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have other known lung or breathing conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, lung damage from tuberculosis, a history of having part of a lung removed, or lung cancer.
- People over 40 years old who have a significant smoking history (more than 10 pack-years) or who have had heavy exposure to smoke from burning wood, charcoal, or similar materials.
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial.
- People who are pregnant.
- People who are currently smoking, or who have not stopped smoking within the past year.
- People who have taken antibiotic medicines by mouth, injection, or nasal spray within the past 4 weeks.
- People who have had signs or symptoms of a respiratory infection (such as a cold, flu, or chest infection) within the past 4 weeks.
