Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged between 55 and 85 years old
- People who have had gradual, worsening memory loss for more than 1 year, with a memory and thinking test score (called the Montreal Cognitive Assessment) between 10 and 20
- People whose brain scan (a PET scan) shows the presence of a substance called amyloid, which is linked to memory conditions
- People who have a family member, friend, or carer who is available to take part in the study alongside them as a "study partner"
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have been admitted to hospital in the past 3 months
- People who currently use insulin medications
- People who have a thyroid condition that is not being treated
- People whose kidney function blood test (creatinine) result is above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
- People whose blood count shows a low level of haemoglobin (confirm with trial site)
- People with a known liver disease, or whose liver enzyme blood test results are above a certain threshold
- People with a history of stroke, a brain tumour, active heart failure, or active cancer (note: certain minor skin cancers that can be fully removed may not be excluded — confirm with trial site)
- People with untreated depression or other serious mental health conditions
- People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
