Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who had a stroke at least 6 months ago and whose overall health is currently stable
- People who had a single stroke on one side of the brain only, with no restrictions on whether it was a bleeding or blockage type of stroke, or how large it was
- People who have some measurable stiffness or tightness in the finger-bending muscles (assessed using a standard scale called the MAS score)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have problems with their vision, difficulty paying attention to one side, trouble hearing, or difficulties with thinking and memory
- People who have a history of lung conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- People who are currently changing or adjusting medications used to reduce muscle stiffness (for example, a drug called baclofen)
- People who have received botulinum toxin (such as Botox) injections in their arm or fingers within the last 4 months, or phenol injections within the last 2 years
- People who have a pacemaker fitted
- People who are pregnant
