Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who had a stroke at least 6 months ago and whose health is currently stable
- People who had a single stroke on one side of the brain only (either a bleeding stroke or a blocked blood vessel stroke, of any size)
- People who have some detectable stiffness or tightness in the finger-bending muscles (as measured by a standard clinical scale called the MAS, with a score of 1 or higher)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have problems with vision, difficulty noticing things on one side, hearing problems, or cognitive (thinking/memory) difficulties
- People who have a history of lung conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)
- People who are currently in the process of changing medications that affect muscle tone (for example, a medication called baclofen)
- People who have had botulinum toxin (such as Botox) injected into the arm or fingers within the last 4 months, or phenol injections within the last 2 years
- People who have a pacemaker (a device implanted to help regulate the heart)
- People who are currently pregnant
