Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who are currently on the lung transplant waiting list at Duke University Medical Center
- People who have been found through a specific heart catheter test (called a right heart catheterization) to have elevated pressure in the blood vessels of the lungs, meeting certain measurement thresholds
- People who have been diagnosed with one of the following conditions: pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lung arteries, without certain other causes), COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) with or without elevated lung blood pressure, or IPF (idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis) with or without elevated lung blood pressure
- People who are willing and able to give their agreement to participate and to follow the study schedule before any study procedures begin
Who may not be able to join:
- People with moderate to severe heart problems, specifically a weakened pumping function or significantly thickened heart muscle (confirm with trial site)
- People with a condition called sarcoidosis
- People with an active cancer diagnosis
- People with sickle cell anemia
- People with severe liver disease (classified as Child-Pugh class C)
- People who are pregnant or currently incarcerated
- People who are unable to give their own informed consent to participate
- People who cannot safely have an MRI scan, such as those with metal fragments in the eye, severe claustrophobia, or an inability to lie flat
- People with certain medical or psychological conditions that the study doctors believe could put them at undue risk or prevent them from following the study requirements (confirm with trial site)
