Who may be able to join

AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Women over 45 years of age who have been diagnosed with a specific early-stage, non-invasive breast condition called DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) that has not spread into surrounding tissue
  • People whose tumour measures 2.5 cm or smaller
  • People who have had breast-conserving surgery (where only part of the breast is removed) and where the edges of the removed tissue were clear of disease by at least 2 mm, or where no disease remained after a follow-up procedure to remove more tissue (specific rules apply for front and back margins — confirm with trial site)
  • People whose DCIS has been tested using a specific genetic test called Oncotype DX, which estimates a 10-year risk of the cancer returning locally at 10% or less

Who may not be able to join:

  • People whose DCIS appears in more than one separate area of the breast
  • People with a history of any breast cancer (invasive or non-invasive) in the same breast
  • People who have had any other breast cancer (invasive or non-invasive) at the same time or previously
  • People who have had any other invasive cancer (not including common skin cancers) within the last 5 years
  • People whose general health and ability to carry out daily activities is significantly limited (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose life expectancy is estimated to be less than 10 years
  • People who would have difficulty travelling to the trial site for regular follow-up appointments
