Who might be able to join this trial:
All participants:
- People who are in good general physical health
- People whose first language is English
- People who do not have a neurological disorder
- People who meet the medical requirements for having an MRI scan
- People who do not currently have an alcohol or substance use disorder
For participants with schizophrenia (additional criteria):
- People who have a diagnosis of schizophrenia, regardless of how long they have had the diagnosis
- People whose condition has been clinically stable, meaning they have been living in the community (not in hospital) for at least 12 weeks, have been on a low to moderate dose of antipsychotic medication for at least 4 weeks, and have had stable doses of any other psychiatric medications
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have metal implants or implanted electronic devices in their body
- People who are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
- People who have any condition that would stop them from being able to give free and informed consent to participate
- People who have wounds or infections on their scalp
- People who experience claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces) that would prevent them from having an MRI scan
- People who are currently experiencing ongoing seizures
- People who have a neurological disorder
