  • People who have had their first-ever stroke on the left side of the brain, within the last 3 months before joining the study, or people who are healthy volunteers with no history of stroke
  • People aged between 18 and 80 years old
  • People who were fluent in English and able to read English before their stroke
  • People who show reading difficulties, as measured by a specific reading test called the Reading Comprehension Battery for Aphasia (2nd edition), making more than 3 errors on certain sections of that test

  • People who have a history of a prior brain or neurological condition, such as a brain tumour or Alzheimer's disease
