Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who score below 45 on a balance assessment called the Berg Balance Scale (a test of standing and moving balance)
• People whose natural walking speed over 10 metres is slower than 0.8 metres per second (a relatively slow walking pace)
• People who have had a stroke affecting one side of the body
• People who are more than 2 months but less than 4 months since their stroke
• People who are able to walk at least 10 feet (about 3 metres) with the help of at most one other person
• People who are in a stable medical condition

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have a neurological condition other than stroke
• People with serious heart conditions, including: a heart attack or heart surgery within the past 3 months, a history of heart failure, certain unstable heart rhythm problems, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, severe aortic stenosis, or chest pain and breathlessness at rest or during everyday activities — and specifically anyone whose heart disease is classified as Class 3 or Class 4 under the New York Heart Association system
• People with severe arthritis or joint/bone problems that significantly limit the movement of their lower limbs, including specific restrictions in knee, hip, or ankle movement (confirm with trial site)
• People with severely high blood pressure — specifically a resting reading above 200/110 mmHg
• People who experience pain when walking
• People who are currently receiving physiotherapy focused on movement and/or walking
• People who are living in a skilled nursing facility
• People who cannot safely have an MRI scan, including those with metal in their body, certain implanted medical devices, or severe claustrophobia
