- People who are currently using a vagus nerve stimulation device
- People with a skin condition on the area of the body where the stimulation device would be placed
- People with a cochlear implant (a hearing device) near the area where the stimulation device would be used
- People whose left ear shape makes it impossible to use the vagus nerve stimulation device
- Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or of childbearing age without effective contraception in place
- People with a known allergy or medical reason to avoid any of the anti-nausea medications required in this study
- People who are under legal guardianship or a court-ordered protection arrangement
- People who are unable to read or write
