Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have a complete spinal cord injury (meaning no movement or feeling below the injury site) at the lower back, mid-body, or lower neck area (between the C5 and C7 vertebrae)
- People who have nerve pain every day that rates at least 4 out of 10 in severity, and has been present for 3 months or longer
- People whose pain matches more than 2 items on a specific spinal cord injury pain questionnaire called the SCIPI (a 7-question checklist)
- People who are 18 years of age or older
- People who were injured more than one year ago before starting the study (screening for eligibility may happen earlier than this)
- People who have reliable mobile phone connectivity with usable service
- People whose pain medication has stayed the same for at least 1 month
- People who are cleared on a physical activity safety check called the VRWalk scale
- People who do not have motion sickness that affects their daily life
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose spinal cord injury is in the upper neck area (between the C1 and C4 vertebrae)
- People under the age of 18
- People who were injured within the past year
- People who are not able to understand spoken English
- People who are currently in prison
- People who are blind
- People who experience severe motion sickness
