Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People who have been diagnosed with primary breast cancer confirmed by biopsy (classified as BI-RADS 6, meaning cancer is confirmed)
- People whose tumour is at an early to intermediate stage (Tis, T1, or T2) and measures more than 1 cm in size
- People whose planned surgery involves removing only part of the breast (known as breast-conserving surgery)
- People who have not yet received any treatment for this cancer
- People who are in reasonably good general health, able to carry out daily activities with little or no limitation (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a life expectancy of less than 3 months
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with known spread of cancer to the liver, any liver tumours (whether cancerous or non-cancerous), a condition affecting the bile ducts from birth (biliary atresia), ongoing liver disease, or cirrhosis (serious liver scarring)
- People with known moderate liver impairment — this applies to phase I of the trial, and may apply to phase IIa depending on safety findings from phase I (confirm with trial site)
- People with a known allergy or sensitivity to a substance called indocyanine green (a dye used in medical imaging)
- People who do not have the capacity to make their own informed decisions
