Who might be able to join this trial:
If you are a person living with memory loss or dementia (PLWD):
- You self-identify as African American
- You are 50 years of age or older
- You live in the community (not in a nursing home or care facility)
- You are showing signs of mild to moderate dementia, based on a family caregiver's report and meeting standard medical criteria for probable Alzheimer's disease (confirm with trial site)
- You are able to read, speak, and understand English
- You are willing to take part in the study
If you are a caregiver:
- You self-identify as African American
- You are 18 years of age or older
- You are a daughter or daughter-in-law of the person with dementia (including non-biological family relationships)
- You help the person with dementia with everyday tasks and/or decisions about their care
- You are involved in making formal care decisions for the person with dementia
- You are able to read, speak, and understand English
- You have no significant memory or thinking problems yourself
- You have access to an internet connection
- You have access to a phone or computer that can receive emails
If you are a "key informant" (an experienced caregiver):
- You meet all the caregiver criteria listed above
- You have personal experience navigating at least 2 of the following for a parent with dementia: getting a formal diagnosis, finding or changing a healthcare provider, managing medications, receiving treatment or having a procedure, or discussing hospice, palliative care, or end-of-life care
If you are a past caregiver:
- You meet all the caregiver criteria, but you are no longer actively providing care because your parent has passed away or has moved into a long-term care facility
- If your parent has passed away, this must have happened at least 12 months before joining the study
If you are a caregiver for someone with severe dementia:
- You meet all the caregiver criteria, and you are currently caring for a parent whose dementia is at a severe stage, based on a standard caregiver report (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
For persons living with dementia (PLWD):
- You have another significant brain or neurological condition, such as Parkinson's disease
- You have a major mental health condition, such as schizophrenia
