Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are able to provide written consent to participate
  • People who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar 1 disorder (as defined by DSM-5 standards)

  • People with a physical condition or disability that would prevent them from safely taking part in yoga-based exercises or a wellness lifestyle program — for example, angina within the past 6 months, a heart attack within the past year (unless a primary care doctor gives permission), or blood pressure that is not well controlled
  • People with a neurological condition that could affect diagnosis or thinking/memory assessments — for example, dementia, stroke, or a significant head injury
  • People with physical problems that would prevent them from training in yoga-based exercises — for example, severely impaired vision
  • People who are already receiving more than one hour per week of relaxation or mind-body stress reduction activities related to yoga as part of their current treatment
