Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adolescents between 12 and 18 years of age
- People who have a confirmed diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), assessed using two specific diagnostic tools (confirm with trial site)
- People who have been diagnosed with a schizophrenia-related condition, such as schizophrenia, schizophreniform disorder, schizoaffective disorder, or a related psychotic disorder, confirmed through a structured clinical interview
- People whose verbal and overall thinking/reasoning abilities meet a minimum score on a standardised intelligence test (a score of 70 or above), to ensure the ability to participate in brain scanning
- Typically developing adolescents with no psychiatric history may also be eligible to join as a comparison group, recruited from the general community
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a significant medical or neurological condition that could affect brain scan results, such as epilepsy or a brain tumour
- Typically developing adolescents who have any history of a psychiatric condition
- People with anything that makes an MRI scan unsafe, such as a history of metal fragment injury, metal implants inside the body, current orthodontic braces, or non-removable retainers
