Who might be able to join this trial:
- You must be female
- You must be between 18 and 40 years old
- Your body mass index (BMI, a measure of height and weight) must be 18.5 or above
- You must speak English
- You must be in generally stable health, confirmed by a doctor through basic health checks and blood tests
- If joining the weight-restored anorexia group: you must have been formally diagnosed with Anorexia Nervosa according to medical guidelines (DSM-5)
- If joining the weight-restored anorexia group: your weight must have recovered to a healthy BMI (18.5 or above) within the past 6 months after previously being underweight
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have ever been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder
- People who currently have a problem with substance use (such as alcohol or drugs)
- People who are currently taking any medications that could affect how the body processes energy or sugar (you would need to stop such medications at least 2 weeks before the main study visit — confirm with trial site)
- People who have attempted suicide in the past 6 months or who are currently considered at high risk of suicide
- People who have a serious current medical condition or a condition affecting the body's metabolism, including diabetes or pregnancy
- If joining the healthy comparison group: people who have ever been diagnosed with any eating disorder
- If joining the healthy comparison group: people who currently have an active depressive disorder
