Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are at least 18 years old
- You are already scheduled to have a procedure called an ERCP (a scope procedure used to examine and treat the bile ducts and pancreas) at one of the participating hospitals
- You are willing and able to give your consent to take part in the study
Who may not be able to join:
- You are unwilling or unable to give consent to take part
- You are currently pregnant
- You are currently breastfeeding
- You have a long-term condition called chronic calcific pancreatitis (a type of lasting pancreas damage with calcium deposits)
- Your ERCP is being done only to swap out or remove a previously placed tube (biliary stent)
- You have had a previous cutting procedure on your bile duct opening and your ERCP is not expected to involve imaging of the pancreas (confirm with trial site)
- You have a condition called pancreas divisum (an abnormality in how the pancreas formed) and you are having a bile duct procedure
- You have a medical reason why you cannot take tacrolimus (an immune-suppressing drug) or anti-inflammatory painkillers like ibuprofen
- You are currently taking tacrolimus or any other immune-suppressing medication
- You have significant kidney disease or sudden kidney injury (confirm with trial site for specific kidney function levels)
- You do not have a rectum (the lower part of the large intestine)
- You have had a pancreas inflammation episode (acute pancreatitis) within the last 30 days
- You have a cancerous tumour in the head of the pancreas
- You have been diagnosed with a specific bile duct muscle disorder called Sphincter of Oddi dysfunction Type 3
