Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 years or older
- People willing to undergo either of two types of endoscopic procedures to remove tissue (called EMR or ESD)
- People who are able to give written informed consent and understand what taking part in the trial involves
- People with Barrett's oesophagus (a condition affecting the lining of the food pipe) who have at least one visible abnormal area that does not show signs of having spread into deeper layers of the oesophagus wall, as confirmed by a specialist review committee
- People with more than one abnormal area in the oesophagus, as long as all areas are considered suitable for endoscopic treatment — only one area (the "target lesion") is assessed for the study
- People who have previously had an endoscopic tissue removal procedure
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose visible abnormal area is suspected of having spread into deeper layers of the oesophagus wall, based on assessment by the specialist review committee
- People who had a biopsy showing high-grade abnormal cells (called HGD) in a random tissue sample taken either during an endoscopy at a referring centre within the 3 months before the study imaging, or during the study imaging endoscopy itself
- People who have had surgery on the oesophagus (food pipe), other than a fundoplication procedure (a specific type of reflux surgery)
- People who have previously had ablation therapy (a treatment that destroys tissue) on the oesophagus
- People whose target lesion is located within 1 cm of a site where a previous endoscopic tissue removal was performed
- People with blood clotting problems that are not well controlled, including a blood clotting measurement (INR) above 2.0, or a low platelet count below 50,000
- People who have varicose veins in the oesophagus (called oesophageal varices)
- People with a known history of unresolved drug or alcohol dependency that would affect their ability to understand consent, follow post-treatment instructions, or attend follow-up appointments
- People with a life expectancy of less than 2 years
