Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are 50 years of age or older
• People who have been diagnosed with mild to moderate Alzheimer's dementia
• People who completed at least an eighth grade level of education
• Women who have gone through menopause
• People whose score on a standard memory and thinking test (called the MMSE) falls between 16 and 26
• People who are able to give their own consent to join the study, or who have a spouse, family member, or other representative able to give consent on their behalf
• People who are willing and able to follow the study's requirements
• People who are taking a cholinesterase inhibitor and/or memantine, provided that medication was prescribed at least 3 months before the screening visit and the dose has been stable for at least 60 days before screening, and can remain at that dose for the whole study
• People who have a spouse, family member, or professional caregiver who agrees to and is capable of supporting the person's participation — including answering questions about their condition, managing their medication, and applying and supervising the daily treatment sessions
• People who a clinician has assessed as physically suitable to take part in the study

Who may not be able to join:

• People who cannot give their own consent and do not have a surrogate available to consent on their behalf
• People with a history of epilepsy or epileptic seizures
• People currently taking medication that lowers the threshold for seizures
• People who have a current or past diagnosis of depression, bipolar disorder, a psychotic disorder, or any other neurological or psychiatric condition that the study investigator considers would interfere with the study
• People experiencing severe agitation that would interfere with study procedures
• People who have had an alcohol or substance use disorder (as defined by DSM-5) within the last 5 years, or who are experiencing severe sleep deprivation
• People who have had major surgery — defined as major abdominal, vascular, or chest surgery requiring general anaesthesia and resulting in more than one week in hospital — within the past 4 weeks
• People whose head shape or size prevents the treatment device from fitting properly
• People who have taken part in another clinical trial within the past 30 days
• People who have metal implants in the head, such as cochlear implants, implanted brain stimulators, neurostimulators, or aneurysm clips (note: metal implants in the mouth are generally not excluded — confirm with trial site)
