Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a specific type of esophageal cancer (squamous cell carcinoma) in the neck area that can be removed with surgery, at certain stages of the disease
- Your cancer may have spread upward toward the throat or downward toward the chest area
- You are between 18 and 75 years old
- You are considered well enough to safely have surgery (no medical reasons preventing it)

- You have had an allergic reaction in the past to the chemotherapy drugs paclitaxel or cisplatin
