Who might be able to join this trial:
For patients:
- You are 18 years old or older
- You identify your race as Black (this includes African American, African, Caribbean, West Indian, or mixed race with Black as one part), and you identify your ethnicity as Hispanic or non-Hispanic
- A doctor has diagnosed you with persistent asthma (meaning you were prescribed a daily inhaled steroid medication in the last 4 years), OR you have had a recent asthma flare-up such as an emergency room visit or a course of steroid pills, regardless of whether you take daily asthma medicine
- You receive your asthma care at one of the partner community health clinics involved in this study
- You score above a certain level on two short surveys — one measuring how well your asthma is currently controlled, and one measuring certain beliefs about asthma management (confirm with trial site)
For doctors/clinicians:
- You are a clinician who regularly cares for adult patients with asthma
For loved ones of patients:
- You have been named by a patient participant as their loved one
- You are a family member or friend of that patient
Who may not be able to join:
For patients:
- You do not speak English
- You have a serious mental health condition that would make it difficult to take part in the study (confirm with trial site)
- You have already taken part in a listening session connected to this study

- You do not speak English
