Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 18 years or older and whose bones have finished growing
- People who are able to understand the surgeon's explanations, follow instructions, and are willing to attend follow-up appointments and give consent to participate
- People who are having a shoulder replacement surgery (total, partial, or fracture-related) to treat one of the following conditions:
- A complex 3- or 4-part break near the top of the upper arm bone where the head of the bone has shifted out of place
- A complex 3- or 4-part break near the top of the upper arm bone where the spongy bone inside the head has become loose
- A complex 3- or 4-part break near the top of the upper arm bone that also has an additional split through the head of the bone
- Instability of the broken bone fragments after a previous attempt to fix a 3- or 4-part break with surgical hardware
- Bone tissue death in the head of the upper arm bone caused by a previous injury
- Joint damage (arthritis) in the shoulder that developed after a previous fracture of the upper arm bone's head
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unwilling or unable to give consent, or who are not willing or able to attend the required follow-up visits
- People who are known to be pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have any condition that the investigator believes would put them at unnecessary risk or interfere with the study
- People considered vulnerable, including those who are incarcerated, mentally unable to understand what participation involves, known to have alcohol or drug misuse issues, or who are expected to have difficulty following the study requirements
- People who have plans to move to a different location during the follow-up period of the study
- People who show signs of infection
- People who have severe stiffness of the shoulder joint without any associated pain
