Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People diagnosed with symptomatic finger joint osteoarthritis, based on the criteria set by the American College of Rheumatology
- People who have had pain of at least 4 out of 10 in one specific finger knuckle joint (a middle finger joint, known as a PIP joint) lasting more than 3 months
- People whose finger joint pain has not improved enough after at least 3 months of standard treatments, such as pain relief medicines, anti-inflammatory medicines, or joint injections
- People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part
- People who are enrolled in a French social security scheme
- People who are able to read French, as the study questionnaires are in French
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose finger joint osteoarthritis is caused by another known condition, such as gout, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, or joint infection
- People for whom surgery or having an MRI scan would not be safe due to anaesthetic or other medical reasons
- People who have another pain condition affecting their arms or hands that could interfere with assessing their finger pain
- People diagnosed with fibromyalgia
- People who have used corticosteroids (by mouth, injection into a muscle, joint, or vein), immunosuppressant medicines (such as methotrexate, leflunomide, or biologic medicines), or hyaluronic acid injections into finger joints within the past month
- People who have started a new treatment for hand osteoarthritis in the past month, including physiotherapy or a new finger splint
- People who have previously had a nerve-blocking procedure (denervation) on the specific finger joint being studied
- People under legal protection arrangements, such as guardianship, or people who are not free to make their own decisions (such as those detained by law)
- People covered under the French AME scheme (state medical assistance for certain non-residents) (confirm with trial site)
- People currently taking part in another interventional clinical research study, or who are within an exclusion period following a previous clinical study
