Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women aged 18 or older
- People diagnosed with invasive breast cancer that is hormone receptor positive/HER2 negative, HER2 positive (with or without hormone receptors), or triple negative
- People whose biopsy before treatment also showed a non-invasive breast cell change (called DCIS), as long as there is no sign that it is widespread based on imaging scans and mammogram results
- People whose tumour was classified as an early stage (stage 1 or 2) based on size at the time of diagnosis
- People with a single tumour in one breast, confirmed by specialised imaging scans before treatment
- People with no cancer detected in the lymph nodes before treatment, confirmed by ultrasound or a specific type of full-body scan (FDG-PET/CT)
- People who received chemotherapy or other systemic (whole-body) treatment before surgery, known as neoadjuvant systemic treatment
- People who had a small marker or clip placed into the breast tumour before starting pre-surgery treatment
- People who had breast-conserving surgery (removal of the tumour only, not the whole breast)
- People who had a sentinel node biopsy (a procedure to check nearby lymph nodes) either before or after pre-surgery treatment
- People whose post-surgery pathology results showed a complete response, meaning no cancer cells or DCIS were found in the breast or lymph nodes after treatment
- People who have provided written consent to participate in the trial
Who may not be able to join:
- People whose tumour was classified as a more advanced stage (stage 3 or 4) based on size at diagnosis
- People found to have cancer in their lymph nodes at any point before or after pre-surgery treatment, including very small amounts of cancer cells
- People who did not have an axillary (underarm) ultrasound or FDG-PET/CT scan before starting pre-surgery treatment
- People with a previous history of breast cancer or non-invasive breast cell changes (DCIS)
- People with a simultaneous breast cancer or DCIS in the opposite breast
- People with cancer that had already spread to other parts of the body at the time of diagnosis
- People who carry certain gene mutations known to increase the risk of breast cancer, including BRCA1, BRCA2, CHEK2, TP53, or PALB-2
